"The art form I've embraced has a profound grip on my thoughts, constantly constraining them within its enigmatic boundaries. Every idea I attempt to convey is subjected to a delicate dance of interpretation, unveiling nuanced layers of meaning.
Now, as I invite you to join me on this journey, you'll witness how the art form in which my work unfolds transcends conventional notions of expression and perception, creating an enchanting world of its own."
Bio
Abiola Adejare is a Brooklyn-based, Nigerian-born artist who has used various artistic mediums as a form of reflective expression for his thoughts and social commentary.
Abiola graduated from Yaba College of Technology, a prestigious arts school in Nigeria where he honed his skills in painting and majored in graphic design.
Having worked in a number of creative commercial industries, such as advertising, animation and game design studios, as well as leading design teams at a financial institution, Abiola is now putting his energy into art forms that are not deceitful.
Abiola's paintings are proof that every medium has its own interpretive limitations. Abiola is time-traveling, currently going back to the post-cave painterly era. His current interest in recyclable cardboard paper is a test of how eager or reluctant he is to convey an idea through a flurry of strokes.
Artist Statement
Abiola's artistic approach revolves around capturing the very essence of a subject with a single glance, ensuring that what remains in your memory is its defining characteristic. Drawing from his experience in design, he found inspiration in the vibrant world of advertising. A world where brand posters are given mere seconds of a viewer's attention, the key lies in leveraging their existing knowledge and experiences.
Through his paintings, Abiola strives to recreate the viewer's perspective—what they remember seeing and what they can deduce with minimal information. Imagine asking, "what did I just see?" This approach evokes a sense of familiarity and intrigue, inviting contemplation.
Abiola's ultimate goal is to be an influential artist who challenges societal norms and raises thought-provoking questions that disrupt the power dynamics governing humanity and our mainstream philosophy. While this may seem like an ambitious undertaking, he recognizes that it starts with dedicated practice unwavering and generous expression.
His upcoming paintings aspire to delve into themes that explore the intricacies of human emotions and the complexities of relationships. By employing a minimalist style, Abiola aims to distill these concepts into powerful visual representations that provokes introspection and dialogue. Through his art, he promises to initiate a shift in perspectives and contribute to a more balanced and empathetic world.
